The aesthetic features of a car’s interior should be just as appealing as the exterior; but it should also be functional. Just look at the control station of the car a.k.a. the dashboard. Car companies try to outdo each other with the design of the dash, along with the instruments in it. See those symbols that light up? They are not just to make your dash prettier or brighter; they’re there to let you know what’s going on with your car, may it be about your engine, seatbelt, or your lights. But all these lights and symbols can be confusing and fussing around with the car’s manual is not really an enjoying task.
Car companies use general symbols to make it easier for drivers. But they also try to spice it up to make a distinction for a certain car brand or model. Thus, we end up not knowing which symbols stands for which.
To help you understand some of the common signs and symbols, here are some of them:
ABS warning light - this turns on when something is wring with the ABS brakes of your vehicle. But take note that when the engine is started this sign lights up, but soon turns off.
Child seat indicator - Once this lights up, it means that the standardized child safety seat is attached.
Tire pressure monitor - This indicates if the tire pressure dips.
Stay tuned, I’ll be posting more common dashboard lights soon.
